I don’t even feel bad for saying that I like the 924s. Just look at it:

Kinja'd!!!

Plus, virtually every Porsche that is not a 911 - except for the 996 - has been scolded by the purists. Scold has become a badge of honor as far as I’m concerned.

I just wish I was Finnish, like this guy, so I could properly drive one.

The new guy on my team just bought a 1988 924 S SE.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m excited for two reasons:

He’s under 25, and his daily is a 370Z. This means there is hope for this generation of enthusiasts. He already has an inconvenient GT car, and bought an OLDER, less reliable one for fun.

He is the first IT guy I have ever worked with that likes cars this much to make bad decisions like this.

edit - I just watched the video, and couldn’t make it half way through. Turned it off after listening to those upshifts.

Sick, 924's are going to become popular one of these days, totally not biased.

And the guy is a racing driver, so I have faith in the upshifts. Apparently the flywheel, among other components, are so light that it requires upshift blips.

After he bought it I did a little reading, and read that that 1988 (last model year) was the most Porsche of the 924 models, using the drive train from the base 944. Being lighter, the 924 ended up out performing the 944.

How many times has Porsche let a lesser model do that?

You’re really making me miss driving mine. Unfortunately it’s down for the winter due to some messed up fuel pump wiring, and a fuel pump that keeps blowing fuses. Not that it would start in this cold anyway, but I miss it.

Side note, know anywhere I can get a driver side door card for cheap? Mine has a big hole in it where someone once had a speaker and I would love to get it replaced.
